A Serene Autumn Escape: Hiking the Logarska Trail

I recently visited with my family in Logarska Dolina, or Logar Valley. It is really a stunning place and offers a truly scenic alpine experience. While this valley is popular among adventurers year-round, it transforms into a sanctuary of peace in the late autumn months. I had the chance to explore the Logarska Trail in early November, and it was nothing short of magical.

Arriving in the valley, the first thing that strikes you is the grandeur of the peaks around the valley. The air was crisp, but the sky was blue and the sun was shining, which made the views of the valley even more beautiful.

The Logarska Trail runs along the valley floor and offers a leisurely, scenic walk suitable for all fitness levels. It’s about 7 kilometers long from the beginning of the valley to the Rinka Waterfall at the far end. The Savinja River, a crystal-clear ribbon winding through the valley, greeted us first thing. The trail followed its course, providing ample opportunities to pause and admire the serene waters and dramatic mountain backdrop.

As we walked inside the forest, we found many interesting plants, and of course, being autumn, mushrooms. We reached a log cabin, which I think was made to resemble those of the people that worked in the valley in the past as lumberjacks.

We didn’t walk all the way to the end, but stopped 5 kilometers into the trail, at Dom Planincev. This is a typical mountain hut where you can try some local specialities and even pass the night. After a really nice and hearty meal, we headed back to the beginning of the trail, where we had parked our cars. We paused frequently, simply to breathe and take in the grandeur of the surrounding mountains and forests.

The whole experience of the Logarska Trail left us refreshed and inspired. Hiking this trail in November gave us a unique perspective on Logarska Dolina—a chance to see its beauty on a sunny autumn day.
